Books as Outfits Trend

I saw this trending on Twitter and had to try it out myself. It's basically just finding some books and putting together outfits that match the aesthetic of the covers! I had so much fun playing in my closet and hope you like it! I will give a quick synopsis of the books that I chose with my outfits as well as a quick review, and if they are part of a series I will give the summary of the first book.

Here is my Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi inspired outfit!

I LOVED the original three books in this series. This has to be up there on my list of all-time favorite books and characters. Juliette is such a strong female lead character, Kenji is the perfect mix of humor, sarcasm, and feelings who I adore, and then we have Aaron Warner who is top 5 book boyfriends EVER.

I have a curse

I have a gift

I am a monster

I'm more than human

My touch is lethal

My touch is power

I am their weapon

I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Here is my Ruin and Rising influenced outfit, which is the last book in the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo.

I don't know how Bardugo does it, she is INCREDIBLE. This is the third book in her Grishaverse trilogy, starting with Shadow and Bone which will be coming out as a show on Netflix soon! Her world-building has to be top tier because no one is doing it like her. She has three different series now set in the Grisha World, and all of them are exquisite. Shadow and Bone was such a good experience for me, once again I LOVED the characters, especially Nikolai and the Darkling! Although Alina wasn't my favorite she was still relatable.

Shadow and Bone (first book in this series):

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.

Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.

Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

Here is my Reaper at the Gate inspired get-up! This is the third book in Sabaa Tahir's Ember in the Ashes series, her final book to conclude the series will be released in December.

AH! This series is severely underrated!! It is such a great read, and the world that Tahir has created is both dark and alluring. Helene is SUCH a badass, complex character, Laia and Elias are OTP and I'm praying they are end game. Once again high on the list of book boyfriends is Elias Veturius!! I was slightly disappointed by the third book, but am still extremely excited and hopeful for the finale.

Ember in the Ashes (first book):

Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.

But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.

There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

Another Leigh Bardugo masterpeice, Six of Crows Duology, inspired outfit!

MY BABIES. All of these books easily fall into my top favorite books and series of all time, but Six of Crows holds such a special place in my heart. I am IN LOVE with this book, the plot, the characters, the scheming, the found family, the dynamic, UGH ALL OF IT. This is such a well-written duology and I HIGHLY recommend. There are way too many characters and ships to gush about so please just read it yourself for the experience. Shadow and Bone on Netflix combines both series, so I'm interested to see how it turns out. NO MOURNERS, NO FUNERALS.

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone. . . .

A convict with a thirst for revenge

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager

A runaway with a privileged past

A spy known as the Wraith

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes

Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.
