First Book Review - Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

OH MY GOD. The afterthoughts that boggle my mind after finishing one of my new favorite YA reads. THESE BOOKS HAVE EVERYTHING! From the daunting world-building to the beautiful character developments and arcs, to the twists and turns of the plot, you literally feel this in your stomach.

Let's talk about what we all really love this book for. Daemon MF Black. That is all I have to say, what a MAN. Literally stole my heart the first second of the book and held it until the last word on the final page. He is the DREAM man, the actual blueprint for men. I mean sarcastic, witty, intelligent, caring, affectionate, AND a lowkey softy?? WHERE CAN I FIND ONE. I love him more than I care to admit tbh, ultimate book boyfriend!!

Anyways, lets talk about the book now that that's out of the way. This whole series, starting with Obsidian and ending with Opposition held my attention in a way that few books can. I was hesitant at first because really? Aliens? In high school? I'm 21 c'mon! But, I soon realized that Armentrout struck GOLD. I have really never heard of or read anything quite like this. From the first sentence I was completely invested, and usually with longer series that can fade as the books begin and end, but not with the Lux. It completely enamored me and had me smiling like a dork, crying, and swooning the ENTIRE five books. I will never fully recover from this experience. The rich history and world-building makes everything so much more realistic, added to the fact that Area 51 makes an appearance, makes you really wonder. Sorry, the inner conspirator is showing haha.

Now, lets get into the characters- because I loved all of them in their own ways. Of course, Daemon, who is definitely my favorite. All badass and protective, but would also do absolutely anything for his family and Katy. GOD THEIR LOVE IS SO WHOLESOME IT BRINGS ME TO TEARS. Watching them from the beginning where they both were clearly fighting their feelings and the whole enemies to lovers trope which is MY FAV. It was so well-executed and I just fell more and more in love with them as the series progressed. Katy was a strong character, I liked how she didn't take shit from anybody, like yes honey!! She pissed me off sometimes but also under the circumstances it was understandable. Then there's Dee who I absolutely ADORED, the sweetest ray of sunshine. Archer and Luc both surprised me by how quickly my heart opened to the origins. Dawson was such a strong, amazing character and I just LOVED watching everybody interact, and become this close-knit little family by the end. It was seriously giving me life- especially the epilogue. Yup, almost took me OUT.
